1. What We Collect
- Account data: name, email address, country
- Usage data: practice tasks completed, scores, session history
- Content: essays and voice recordings you submit for feedback
- Technical data: browser type, device, IP address (for security)
2. How We Use It
- To provide feedback on your practice tasks
- To generate and adapt your personalized study plan
- To track your progress and band score history
- To send account-related emails (no marketing without consent)
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate Sharply:
- Supabase — authentication and database
- OpenAI / Anthropic — feedback generation
- Stripe — payment processing (we never store card details)
Each provider has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data necessary.
4. Voice Recordings
Speaking practice recordings are sent to our AI provider for transcription and feedback, then deleted. We do not store raw audio files after processing.
5. Data Retention
Your account data is retained while your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from Settings — all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.
6. Cookies, Local Storage & Analytics
We use strictly necessary storage to run the service: your browser's local storage keeps you signed in and saves in-progress practice drafts, and a privacy-friendly captcha (Cloudflare Turnstile) protects sign-up and login from abuse. Admin access uses secure session cookies.
We keep first-party, privacy-friendly usage analytics to understand how the product is used and to improve it — for example, page views, anonymous activity pings, and which features are used. These are stored on our own servers using a random device identifier kept in your browser's local storage; we do not use cookies, cross-site tracking, advertising networks, or any third-party analytics service, and we do not sell your data. Our emails include links that record a click when you open the app from them, so we can measure whether reminders are useful. IP addresses are stored only in hashed form.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, email support@sharply.courses.
8. Children
Sharply is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. We will notify you by email of any material changes before they take effect.
